Baba’s Foundation Inc. (BFI) held the “Business Forum 2017”, on March 15, 2017, at the Rica Glad Function Halls in Buhangin, Davao City. With the theme “Linking Opportunities for Cacao and Coconut Industries”, a total of 38 farmer-leaders from the 17 Agrarian Reform Beneficiary Organizations (ARBOs) of the provinces of Davao del Norte, Compostela Valley and Davao del Sur, and the City of Davao participated in the Forum.
The Forum was particularly organized for the benefit of cacao and coconut farmers. Invited resource speakers include representatives from the Finance and Marketing institutions, and from government agencies providing technical assistance to cacao and coconut farmers. Three invited guests from Land Bank of the Philippines, First Valley Bank, and People’s Bank of Caraga presented their financing program for cacao and other agri-production, while speakers from the Filipinas Oro de Cacao, Development Options for Social Enterprise (DOSE) Inc., BARBCOOP, and FARBCO also present marketing potentials for Cacao Industry.
To present array of technical assistance and services for the farmers in general, representatives from the Dept. of Agriculture (DA), Dept. of Trade and Industry (DTI), Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) and the Dept. of Science and Technology (DOST) also came and gave their presentations.
Officers from the supporting agency Dept. of Agrarian Reform (DAR) of Region XI also graced the occasion and gave their message of support to the farmer-leaders who were very much inspired to participate in this event. The Business Forum is one of the major activities undertaken by BfI under its DAR-ARCCESS Program engagement.
